“I don’t leave home without it.”

The items that first-year Temple students couldn’t leave behind.

Books. Clothes. Food.

New students moving into Temple’s residence halls all brought the essentials—but there were a few more items they just couldn’t leave at home.

For some, it was a stuffed animal, like a dinosaur or a capybara.

Others brought musical instruments, record players, speakers and turntables for mixing.

There were the ones who brought practical items, like a TV or a computer.

Still others brought mementos from their family members and friends.

Whether it’s a piece of furniture or a piece of home, the items our students brought to campus are as unique and diverse as they are.

First-year student Jolie Robinson brought a family heirloom: the same bag her mother brought to Temple as a student two decades ago.

Now, she’s carrying on mom’s legacy.

Another, Riya Naveen, brought a stuffed soccer ball her brother made for her as a child.

And even though some of the stitches are falling out, she just couldn’t bring herself to move away to college without it.

This student, Marina Gamal, is expressing her Temple pride zen-style with this adorable cherry-themed yoga mat!

Keep scrolling for a look at what our new Owls brought to the nest this year.
